The pallbearers at her funeral were: Dennis Hook, Kevin Rue, Wendall and Mike Sents, Roger Anders and Perry Draisey.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, Luverne, one daughter - Lavone, five brothers, Ben, Dick, Harm, Louis and Bill, two sisters: Anna Kampman and Carrie Van Horn.

Emma Kusian of 204 Wright Street, Parkersburg, Iowa was born the daughter of William and Fannie Hartog Van Horn in Nieuw Beerta, Netherlands on August 3, 1900. At the age of 7 years old, Emma moved with her parents to a farm near Greene, Iowa and that is where she attended Butler County rural schools for her education.

On October 1, 1921 Emma was united in marriage to Fred Kusian in Dumont, Iowa. They farmed in the Dumont area till 1930, when they moved to Parkersburg, Iowa.

3:10 P.M. on Monday, December 23, 1991 Emma died at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She reached the age of 91 years, 4 months, and 20 days.

Emma is survived by her 6 children: 3 Daughters, Jean Hook of Parkersburg, Iowa, Juanita, Mrs. Lester Sents of Aplington, and Betty, Mrs. Richard Rue of Hiawatha, Iowa. 3 Sons, Duane Kusian of Waco, Texas, Donald Kusian of Belmond, Iowa and Kenny Kusian of Parkersburg, Iowa. 13 Grandchildren and 12 Great Grandchildren. 1 Sister, Vena, Mrs. William McKee of Sheffield, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her Husband, Fred in September of 1967, her parents, 1 son Luvern Kusian and 1 daughter Lavone Kusian. 5 Brothers,, Ben, Harm, Louis, and Bill Van Horn. 2 Sisters, Anna Kampman and Carrie Van Horn.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday, December 26, 1991 at 1:30 P.M. at the 1st Congregational Church Parkersburg, Iowa. Rev. Rod Wetzig officiated the service. Mrs. Linda Truax played the organ and Rev. Rod sang; "I Belong To The King". Congregational Hymns were "O Come All Ye Faithful" and Recessional Hymn was "O That Will Be Glory". Those acting as casket bearers were Dennis Hook, Kevin Rue, Wendall Sents, Mike Sents, Roger Anders and Perry Draisey.

Interment was held at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg, Iowa.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home of Parkersburg, Iowa was in charge of the arrangements.
