L. Van Horn rites to be at Dumont
Funeral services for Louis H. Van Horn, 63, 316 12th SE, will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Dumont United Methodist Church.
Mr. Van Horn, a feed salesman for Fruen Milling Co., Minneapolis, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital. He had lived in Mason City the last 10 years.
A native of the Dumont area, Mr. Van Horn is survived by his wife, Marlys, one daughter, Mrs. James Rogers, West Union; one son, Allen, Charleston, W.Va.; four grandchildren; two brothers, Richard, Dumont and William, Greene; and three sisters, Mrs. William McKee, Sheffield, Miss Carrie Van Horn, Sheffield, and Mrs. Emma Kusian, Parkersburg.
Burial will be in the Dumont cemetery with the Vogel Funeral Home, Dumont, in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services were held for Louis H. Van Horn, age 63, of Mason City, Tuesday afternoon, October 7, at 1:30 o'clock, at the Bethany Church, in Dumont. Rev E. M. Miller and Rev. Samuel J. Hahn officiated at the services. Burial was made in the Dumont cemetery with the Vogel funeral home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Van Horn was a patient at the Memorial hospital, in Mason City, for several days for observation and treatment and seemed to be responding to treatment very well, when suddenly Sunday morning he passed away.
Louis Henry Van Horn, son of William and Fannie Hartog Van Horn, was born in the Netherlands, September 14, 1906. He came with his parents to the United States in 1913 and settled in Iowa.
On April 25, 1932, he was united in marriage to Mata Schrader and to this union a son was born. The mother soon passed away.
On November 26, 1938, he was united in marriage to Marlys Boots, at Spring Valley, Minnesota, and to this union a daughter, Mary Lou, was born.
Mr. and Mrs. Van Horn farmed in the West Fork community, in Franklin county, for many years. For the last ten years they have made their home in Mason City. He was currently employed by the Fruen Milling Company, of Minneapolis as a salesman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, one sister, Anna Kampman, and two brothers, Ben and Harm.
He is survived by his wife, Marlys, his son Allen, of Charleston, West Virginia, his daughter, Mrs. James (Mary Lou) Rogers of West Union; four grandchildren, Allen and David Van Horn of Minneapolis and Douglas and Luanne Rogers, of West Union; three sisters, Miss Carrie Van Horn, of Sheffield, Mrs. William (Vena) McKee, of Sheffield, and Mrs. Emma Kusian, of Parkersburg, and two brothers, Dick Van Horn, of Dumont, and William Van Horn, of Greene.
Friends and relatives attending the funeral of Mr. Van Horn Tuesday afternoon were from Minneapolis, West Union, Sheffield, Ackley, Waterloo, Allison, Geneva, Charles City, Northwood, Clear Lake, Mason City, Hampton, Parkersburg, Greene, LaPorte City, Shell Rock, Waverly and Dumont.
