"Last Rites are held Saturday for Aredale woman"
Aredale, Iowa, November 20 - Mrs. William Van Horn, age ninety-two, of Aredale, passed away early Thursday morning, November 16th. She had been in failing health for several years. Death was due to the complications of old age.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist church, in Aredale, and burial was made in the Dumont cemetery. The Vogel funeral home, of Dumont, was in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Van Horn was born July 15, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hartog, in Nieuw Beerta, Holland. She was married to William Van Horn May 17, 1890, in Beerta, Holland. They came to America in 1913 and settled near Greene, in Butler county. They farmed there, later moving to Franklin county, where they farmed until 1948, when they retired and moved to Aredale.
Mrs. Van Horn is survived by four sons, Harm Van Horn, of Parkersburg, Dick Van Horn, of Green, Louis Van Horn, of Mason City, and Bill Van Horn, of Aredale, and four daughters, Mrs. Anna Kampman, of Dumont, Mrs William McKee, of Sheffield, Mrs. Fred Kusian, of Parkersburg, and Miss Carrie Van Horn, of Aredale. She is also survived by thirty-nine grandchildren, eight-six great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, and one son, Ben Van Horn, of Charles City, who passed away very suddenly about two weeks ago.

Fannie Van Horn AREDALE woman survived by 135 descendants
Aredale--Mrs. William (Fannie Hartog) Van Horn, 92, died Thursday at her home here following a long illness.
She was born July 15, 1869, in Holland. She was married May 17, 1800, in Holland, and came to Butler County in 1917. She had lived in Aredale the last 13 years. Her husband died Oct. 29, 1958. A son, Ben, Charles City, died last week.
Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Albert Kampman, Dumont; Harm and Mrs. Fred Kusian, Parkersburg; Dick, Greene; Mrs. Willie McKee, Sheffield; Louis, Mason City; William and Carrie, with whom she lived in Aredale; 39 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at l:30 p.m. at the First Methodist Church here. The Rev. Kenneth J. Harden will officiate. Burial will be in the Dumont Cemetery with Vogel Funeral Home in charge.
