Harm Van Horn, son of William and Fannie Hartog Van Horn, was born in New Beerta, The Netherlands, on May 19, 1892. In 1910 he came to America to the vicinity of Greene, Iowa. On February 25, 1923 he was united in marriage at Hampton, Iowa with Miss Cleo Anway. The family lived in the Hampton vicinity until 1934 when they came to farm near Parkersburg. In 1940 they moved to Parkersburg where Mr. Van Horn was employed for many years at the Parkersburg Feed Mill and Elevator. He served with the United States Army during World War 1 and was a past member of the American Legion and a current member of Butler County Barracks of World War 1 Veterans. He was baptized and became a member of the Parkersburg Congregational Church.
Mr. Van Horn had been in failing health for over 2 years and passed away on Tuesday morning, July 15th, at the family home at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 26 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sons, 1 daughter, 2 grandchildren, 1 brother and 1 sister. Surviving are his wife, Cleo; 2 sons, James of Charles City and Richard of Washburn; 3 daughters, Mabel (Mrs. Raymond Spieker) of Grundy Center, Donna (Mrs. Raymond Muller) of Reinbeck, Lois (Mrs. William Lucas) of Omaha, Nebraska; 17 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Dick and Bill both of Greene and Louis of Mason City; 3 sisters, Mrs. Willie McKee and Miss Carrie Van Horn both of Sheffield and Mrs. Emma Kusian of Parkersburg.
Funeral services were held on Friday afternoon, July 18th, at the Congregational Church with Rev. Nevin Haines officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill Cemetery at Parkersburg.
