Ernest W. Harter, 52, of Rural Route 2, Auburn, died at 11:40 p.m. Tuesday. Born in Whitley County, Mr. Harter worked at City Utilities here, and was a member of the Quarter Century Club at City Utilities. Mr. Harter also was a member of the Methodist Alterstar Church. Surviving are his wife, Phyllis; two sons, Lt. Carl E. Harter, serving in the Air Force, and Peter K., at home; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy (Harold) George, Fort Wayne, and Miss Miriam Harter, at home; four brothers, Jesse, Clifford, Robert and Ross, all of Fort Wayne; three sisters, Mrs. Rutherford Keener, Mrs. Wilbur York and Mrs. August Zollinger, all of Fort Wayne and two grandchildren. Friends may call at D.O. McComb and Sons Funeral Home from 7 p.m. today until 11 a.m. Saturday, when the body will be taken to the First Church of God, where friends may call until 1 p.m., the time of services, Rev. Jim Fritz and Rev. V. O. Barnhart will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Chapel Cemetery.
