Josie I. Crosswhite, 91, Tuscumbia, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, after an extended illness.

A graveside service will be Wednesday, August 23, at 2 p.m. at Shaw Cemetery, Colbert Memorial Chapel, Tuscumbia, directing. Officiating at the funeral will be the Rev. Hershel Quinn.

She is survived by her son, J. R. Crosswhite, Muscle Shoals; daughters, Ophelia Carroll, Missouri, Betty Cooper, Arkansas; stepdaughters, Gladys Slaton, Lucille Carpenter; brother, Ted Weems, Town Creek; 24 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Cleveland Crosswhite; parents, Percy W. and Josephine Weems; sons, William Crosswhite, Owen Crosswhite, J. C. Crosswhite, stepsons, Hubert Crosswhite, Gene Crosswhite; daughters, Marcelene Mitchell, Mary Virginia Crosswhite; stepdaughters, Irene Weems, Beulah Crosswhite; brothers, Percy Weems, Herman Weems, Jack Weems, Uyless Weems, Veron Weems; sisters, Edna Isbell, Ruth Isbell, Isbell Roden, Madge Weems.

Pallbearers will include grandsons, great-grandsons and friends.
