William P. Weems
William Percy Weems, 87, Route 1, Leighton, died Thursday at Helen Keller Memorial Hospital, Sheffield.
He was a native of Town Creek, a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Morrison Funeral Home chapel, Tuscumbia, with the Revs. Billy Weems and Emmette Grissom officiating. Burial will be in Donald Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home 5-9 p.m. today.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bertha Weems, Leighton; son, William R. Weems, Tuscumbia; daughters, Mrs. Helen Brown, Muscle Shoals, Mrs. Maureen B. Raney, Kingsport, Tenn., Mrs. Christeen Crowden, Sheffield, Mrs. Joanne Coan, Mrs. Joyce Beaver, Mrs. Sandra Wood, all of Leighton; brothers, U.H. Weems, Courtland, Ted Weems, Town Creek; sisters, Mrs. Irene Crosswhite, Leighton; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Bearers will be Eugene Brown Jr., Bradley Coan, Mike Hawes, Donald Weems, Tim Jeffries, L.M. Muston, James E. Weems Jr. and Joseph Vernon Weems.
