William Fincham, Sr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Fincham of Attleborough, England, was born March 24, 1845 and died July 11, 1931 at his home in Blue Rapids, Ks. at the age of 85 yrs., 3 months, & 17 days. On Feb. 19, 1864, Mr. Fincham was married with Miss Mary Ann Cobb. To this union 12 children were born, six in England and six in Kansas.
In 1876 Mr. and Mrs. Fincham sailed for America. They settled near Irving, KS where they lived for nearly 11 years, enduring many hardships and trials of pioneer life. They moved to a farm northeast of Blue Rapids in 1887 and lived there for 26 years then moved to Blue Rapids later. Mrs. Fincham died Feb. 8, 1930.
For a number of years Mr. and Mrs. Fincham were members of the Congregation Church of Blue Rapids but later transferred their membership to the Methodist Church, which they attended until ill health made it difficult for them to be present at the services.
Those who survive are six son and six daughters, Mrs. Bessie Wing, Mesa, AZ; Mrs. Gertrude Cook, Milford, UT; Mrs. Margaret Ewing and Richard Fincham, both of Waterville, KS; Mrs. Sarah Monteith, James, William Jr., Isaac, Thomas, & Stephen Fincham, Mrs. Alice Farrar and Mrs. Katherine Shaw, all of Blue Rapids; one brother in London, England; a number of grandchildren & great grandchildren and friends.
Burial in the Fairmont Cemetery in Blue Rapids, Ks
