On Feb. 4, 1884, she was united in marriage to John A. Monteith and established their home on a farm in Marshall County, KS. To this union were born six children. She was preceded in death by her husband; her son, Johnnie; and seven brothers and sisters.
She was a member of the Blue Rapids Methodist Church. The last 30 years she made her home with her daughter and husband, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Critchlow of Blue Rapids, KS. Her family was her whole life. She endured many hardships to raise her family which she did by herself from the birth of her youngest child until each reached his adulthood. She was loved by all who knew her for her cheerful nature and love of life.
She leaves to mourn her passing; two daughters, Jennie E. Critchlow of Blue Rapids, KS; Bernice M. Schrock of Denver, CO.; three sons; Walter W. Monteith, Millard F. Monteith of Waterville, KS; Merle Monteith of Oxford, KS; a daughter-in-law Mrs. Bessie Monteith of Marysville; six grandchldren and four great grandchildren; three sisters; Mrs. Kate Shaw, Waterville, KS., Mrs. Margaret Ewing, Blue Rapids, KS; Mrs. Alice Farrar, San Diego, CA., and one brother, Richard Fincham, Waterville, KS; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Fairmont Cemetery, Blue Rapids, KS.
