Gertrude Ora Fincham Cook was born June 9, 1879, daughter of William and Mary Ann Cobb Fincham, in Blue Rapids, KS. On Sept 11, 1895 she was married to Walter William Cook at Blue Rapids. Her husband passed away on June 15, 1935.
She came to Milford, Utah in 1914 and in 1915 Mr. and Mrs. Cook filed one of the first homestead claims in south Milford, homesteading the Hay Springs Ranch which the Cook family still own. She spent her entire life in South Milford, helping build a large cattle ranch. Mrs. Cook was the last of the Pioneer women who first settled in the Milford Valley pumping district.
Gertrude passed age at age 77 on Dec 16, 1951 in the Milford Hospital, Milford, UT. Funeral services were at the Milford LDS Church on Dec. 18, 1951 with burial in the Milford City Cemetery, Milford, UT.
She is survived by two daughters and three sons; Mrs. R. H. (Bessie) Snyder of Huntington Park, CA., Mrs. R. F. (Bertha) Cottrell, Walter, Jess and Howard Cook, all of Milford, UT; four brothers and four sisters, all residing in Kansas; 11 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
