MEADE COUNTY MESSENGER OBITUARY – 04/09/1980
Mr. Verlan Anthony Hardesty, 66 years old, of Battletown, Kentucky, died at 3:25 p.m., Wednesday, April 2, 1980, at his residence. He was born in Meade County, Kentucky, April 30, 1913, a son of the late Thomas Hardesty and Fronie Logsden. Mr. Hardesty was a retired construction worker. Mr. Hardesty was preceded in death by two sons, two sisters, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Marie Allen Hardesty; ten children, Mrs. Kenneth (Janet) Curl, Mrs. Calvin (Dorisey) Keith, Mrs. Sonny (Sue) Jantzen, Mrs. Charles (Peggy) Hayes, Mrs. Kenneth (Joy) Meeks and Mr. Perry Hardesty, all of Battletown, Kentucky, Mrs. John (Regina) Hayes, Payneville, Kentucky, Mr. Phillip Hardesty, Garrett, Kentucky, Miss Erma Hardesty and Mr. Johnie Hardesty, both of the home. He is also survived by four sisters, Mrs. Fannie Fow and Mrs. Roy (Lorene) Hardesty, both of Louisville, Kentucky, Mrs. N. Lee Boling, Elizabethtown, Kentucky, Mrs. Jessie (Anna Mae) Knott, Cincinnati, Ohio; one brother, Lamar Hardesty, Louisville, Kentucky; 23 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Prayers were recited by Father Philip Bronk at 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 4th, form the Chapel of Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Funeral services were held 12:00 noon, Saturday, April 5th, and a funeral Mass was said at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 7th, by Father Philip Bronk, form St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Payneville. Interment was in St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery, directed by Jenkins-Sturgeon Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Pat Barley, Tommy Hardesty, Louie Fow, Michael Hardesty, Leo Hardesty and Randy Greer.
