Henry Clay Aurand, eldest son of Harrison Aurand and Mary E.D. Foster Aurand, was born May 27, 1858, near Lewistown, Pa., and passed away July 13, 1944, at his home in Republic county (sic), Kansas, at the age of 86 years, 3 months and 17 days.

In 1879, he came to Beloit, Kan., and walked to the Henry Myers home in northeast Jewell county (sic). He spent several years in that community, then moved to his home in northwest Republic county (sic) in the spring of 1885. He resided there until his death.

On January 22, 1885, he was united in marriage to Cora E. Tucker of Hardy. To this union were born six children. The eldest, Frances V., passed away at the age of four years.

He is survived by his wife and five children, Mrs. Lenore File of Courtland, Kan., Mrs. Mildred Steier of Hardy, Neb., Eugene Aurand of Hardy, Neb., Mrs. Atha Stenson of Courtland, and Mrs. Bula Clark of Hardy, Neb.; nine grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; one brother, Samuel of Moorcroft, Wyo., eight half-brothers, and sisters, Mrs. Alice Cline, Mrs. Aude McCallipps, Mrs. Mabel Bradford, Fern, Lee and Maurice Aurand, all of Lewistown, Pa., Mrs. June Cire of Sundance, Wyo., and Lester Aurand of Hardy.
