Atha Maude Aurand Stenson was born April 29, 1897, on a farm near Hardy in Republic County, Kans., one of six children of Henry Clay and Cora Tucker Aurand, and died September 18, 1984, in the Good Samaritan Home at Superior, Nebr., at the age of 87 years, four months and 20 days.

She was educated at the Hurley School near the family farm.

On November 11, 1917, she was united in marriage to Ernest Claude Stenson in Hardy, a union to which two sons were born. The couple spent 51 married years on the farm, she remaining after his death.

She moved to Good Samaritan Home in Superior in 1979.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1968; son, Ernest; two sisters: Francis Aurand and Lenore File.

Surviving are: a son, Joe of Hardy; sisters: Mildred Steier of Superior, Bula Clark of Hardy; brother, Eugene Aurand of Hardy; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Friday, September 21, at Megrue-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Superior, with Rev. Richard Milliken officiating. Burial was in Rosemound (sic) Cemetery near Hardy.
