In Memory of Manley Bobo, whose burial site is unknown. He lived in Bartow County Georgia, however, he was able to elude the census from 1860 thru 1880.

He was the oldest son of Solomon Jr & Elizabeth "Betsey" [White] Bobo, both of Union County SC.

Manley married abt 1834, to Rebecca Bailey, in Union County SC, their first known child, Elisha J Bobo, was born 1834.

Manley & Rebecca had 11 known children:

Both his Bobo and White grandfathers served in the Revoluationary War. On the Bobo side his grand parents were, Solomon Sr & Mary [Potts] Bobo, on the White side, Robert Sr & Mildred "Milly" [Whitehead] White. The White's arrived in Union County in 1788.

Four of Manley's brothers served in the Civil War, as they were of age; Tilman, Lewis, Hiram and Robert. Tilman and Lewis died in the Civil War, Robert was wounded twice. Their brother in law, Elijah Bailey, who married sister Mary, was killed at Petersburg VA, during the war.

The surviving families of Manley and Rebecca, produced very large families, that spread, to GA, AL, MS, and TX, and AR.

Mr. J. S. Bobo
Oxford, Ala.

I received your letter , sure was glad to hear
from you- and in answer thereto will give you the
following Statement:-

My father's name is John F Bobo, he was borned
in Union County, South Carolina, my grand father
was named Manley, who was the oldest son of the family
of Soloman Bobo, my grand father's brothers were named
Hampton, William, Jerry, Samuel, Lewis, Green, Elijah,
Hiram and Robert, and one sister named Pollie.

William Bobo help compile the old Christian
Harmony, I think all the Bobos that originated in
South Carolina are a kin.

My father is involid, has been so for over
five years, he is confined to his room now, he is
70 years old.

We are doing resonably well, we own our little
home here in Paris, and I have a good position in
the Abstract Office.

There are only three of us at home now. My
father, mother and myself, my mother is also very
feable, she is 69 years old. I have six brothers
and one sister, I am the youngest of all. All
musicians and music writhers. Two brothers Baptist
preachers, I have three brothers dead.

Sure was glad to hear from you, am always glad
to hear from any of the Bobos.

I will close hoping you are enjoying life and
hope to hear from you again real soon.

Solomon Bobo and three others brothers came
from England and landed in South Carolina and
along about the year 1785,and all the Bobos
in this country originated from them.
