Hazel Irene SHOEMAKER, 80, of 6401 18 Road, Argos, died in Woodlawn Hospital at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, shortly after admission. She had been in failing health for 6 months.

She was born Oct. 4, 1909 in Argos to George Washington and Mildred PUTERBAUGH SNIDER. She had lived all her life in the Argos community except for two years in Tiosa. She was married Nov. 14, 1931 in Plymouth to Roy H. SHOEMAKER, who survives. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mentone.

Surviving with her husband are a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) WINTER, Harrah, Wash.; five sons, Gerald [SHOEMAKER], Argos; Harold [SHOEMAKER], Uniontown, Pa.; Russell [SHOEMAKER], Taylors, S.C.; George [SHOEMAKER], Fort Wayne, and Stephen [SHOEMAKER], Booneville; seventeen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mentone First Baptist Church with the Revs. George SHOEMAKER and Don OLSON officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Church of the Brethren Cemetery southeast of Argos. Friends may call at the Grossman Funeral home in Argos from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, and at the church on Saturday for an hour before services.
