Dr. Harold D. Shoemaker, Ph.D., 60, of Uniontown, Pa., went home to be with his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, August 18, 2002. He was born March 4, 1942, in Argos, Indiana, son of Roy H. Shoemaker and Hazel Irene Snyder Shoemaker. Harold was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Uniontown and a very devoted Sunday School Teacher. He assisted his Pastor in discipling many believers in Jesus with a love for missions and desire to lead others to Christ, his life was an example and testimony to all who knew him. He was one of the founders of the present day Chestnut Ridge Christian Academy where he also served as Administrator and taught Physics. Dr. Shoemaker also taught in the Engineering Department of West Virginia University and Penn State University, Fayette Campus. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Shoemaker was currently employed as a Project Manager with the United States Department of Energy, NETL, Morgantown, West Virginia. His parents and grandparents preceded him in death. Harold was a devoted husband to his wife of 40 years, Sandra Cale Shoemaker, and loving father to his daughter and son, Susan R. Shoemaker, Morgantown, West Virginia, and Jonathan E. Shoemaker, San Jose, California. Also surviving are four brothers and one sister, Gerald Shoemaker and wife Doris, Argos, Indiana, Marilyn Shoemaker Winter and husband Rev. Charles Winter, Sunnyside, Washington, Dr. Russell Shoemaker and wife Launa, Hendersonville, North Carolina, Rev. George L. Shoemaker and wife Carol, Argos, Indiana, and Dr. Stephen Shoemaker and wife Shirley, Boonville, Indiana; 16 nieces and nephews; and four very special adopted grandchildren: Andrea Owens, Alexandra Owens, Alissa Owens, and Ron Hudson. The Family will receive Friends in the DEAN C. WHITMARSH FUNERAL HOME, 134 West Church Street, Fairchance, Pa., on Tuesday from 12 Noon to 9 p.m. Additional viewing will be held in Calvary Baptist Church, Route 21, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday, August 21, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Allen S. Owens and Rev. George L. Shoemaker officiating. Entombment will follow in Chapel of Memories Mausoleum, Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown.
