Mrs. Ruby Holleman Upshaw of Houston, died Monday, August 30 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She was 79. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at Prospect Methodist Church where she was a lifelong member. Rev. Grady Bailey, Jr. officiated.
She was the wife of the late Harrison F Upshaw, Jr. of Houston.
Survivors include one sister, Miss Lura Holleman of Houston; one daughter, Mrs. Joy Upshaw Murphy of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; two sons, Harrison F Upshaw, III of Houston and John Harvey Upshaw of Oxford; six grandsons and one granddaughter, Monette Upshaw.
Pallbearers were her six grandsons, John David Upshaw, Brett Woodruff Upshaw, Elkin Harrison Upshaw, William Patrick Murphy, Jr., Robert Harrison Murphy and Stephen Upshaw Murphy.
Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
