John Harvey Upshaw, age 50, died Saturday, January 14 1989 at Oxford-Lafayette Medical Center in Oxford. Funeral services were held Monday, January 16 at Prospect United Methodist Church. Burial was in Prospect Cemetery with Dr. Bryan Scarbrough officiating.
The son of the late Harrison Francis Upshaw, Jr. and the late Ruby Lalon Holleman, he lived most of his life in Houston. He was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Joy Murphy of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; one brother, Harrison Upshaw, III of Houston and one aunt, Miss Lura Holleman of Houston.
Pallbearers were Joe Lee Doss, John Nelson, Jack Holleman, Jr., Byron Wilson, Jack Earnest and Hubert Baird.
Houston Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
