Kilmichael-------John J. Garrett, 76, retired farmer, died yesterday at Kilmichael Hospital. Services will be at Nation Poplar Creek Baptist Church at 10 a.m. today. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Oliver Funeral Home in charge. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Betty Garrett; six daughters, Mrs. Bessie Mae Henderson of Florida,
Mrs. Ruby McKenzie of Mobile, Mrs. Mary Lee Hunt of Pensacola, Fla., Mrs. Sarah Dacus of Kilmichael, Mrs. Jeanette Zimmerle of Huntsville, Ala., and Mrs. Mildred Bowden of Mobile; six sons, Thomas B. Garrett of Winona, Ernest Garrett of Kilmichael, Emil Garrett of Pearl City,
Hawaii, Elmer Garrett of Winona, William J. Garrett of Kilmichael and Louis Garrett of Mobile; a sister, Mrs. Anna Chesteen of California, and a brother, Frank Garrett of Kilmichael.

John J. Garrett dies following lengthy illness
Funeral services for John J. Garrett, who died at the Kilmichael Hospital October 21 after a lengthy illness, were held Saturday, the 22nd, at the Nations Poplar Creek Baptist Church.
Services were conducted at 10 a.m. by Revs. A.P. Gilder and Odell Page. Burial was in the church cemetery, Oliver Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Garrett was a native of Leake County and was 76 years old at the time of his death. He was a member of the Friendship Primitive Baptist Church.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Betty Evans Garrett, Kilmichael: six sons, Thomas and Elmer, Winona; Emit and William, Kilmichael; Emil, Pearl City, Hawaii; Lewis, Mobile; six daughters, Mrs. Sara Nan Dacus, Kilmichael; Mrs. Ruby McKenzie and Mrs. Mildred Bowden, Mobile, Mrs. Bessie Mae Henderson, Deland Florida; Mrs. Mary Lee Hunt, Pensacola Florida; Mrs. Jeanette Zimmerle, Huntsville Alabama; a brother, Frank, of Kilmichael; a sister, Mrs. Anna Chesteen of California; 36 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Ford Garrett, Thomas Garrett, Calvin Garrett, Elmer Garrett, Amzie Burns, and Narvil Henly.
