Mary Lee Garrett Hunt, age 88, departed this life on March 2, 2019. She was a native of Montgomery County and was a resident of Homestead Village in Fairhope, AL since 2011.

She was born on January 20, 1931 in Poplar Creek, MS to John and Bettie Evans Garrett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Lyndol Hunt; one son, William “Billy” Luther Hunt, her parents, her brothers. Barthal, Emit, Emil, Elmer, Genie, William and Lewis; her sisters, Bessie Henderson, Ruby McKenzie, Sara Nan Dacus, Kristin “Jeanette” Zimmerle and Mildred Harrell.

She is survived by her children, Linda (Leland) Baggett, Carol (Curtis) Barrett, Janet (John) Morris, and Randy Hunt; eleven grandchildren, Cheryl, Branon, Curt, Ben, Nick, Tony, Lisa, John Allen, Jeff, Austin and Ava; nine great grandchildren, Connor, Sarah, Jackson, Miles, Gracelyn, William, Benjamin, Hannah and charlotte; and many nieces and nephews she cherished.

Mary was a wonderful, Kind, and nurturing soul who made it her duty to make sure everyone was cared for. At Homestead Village where she resided, she wanted to help every resident with any need, even when she was too debilitated to do so. She cherished her children and was generous with her time and resources to help any one of them in need no matter how great or how small. She sacrificed many times over to meet others needs over her own. She will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be at 1:00pm, Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Poplar Creek Nations Baptist Church, 54 Nation’s Rd. in Kilmichael, MS. Memorial services will be at 2:00pm with burial following in the church’s cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Benny Hill.
