FAIRBURY - Helen Catherine Nance, 87, a lifetime Fairbury resident, died at 10:55 p.m. Friday (May 10, 1991) at the Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa, where she had been a resident.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, the Rev. Kevin Comfort officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Fairbury.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a Rebekah service at 8 p.m. conducted by the Charity Home Rebekah Lodge 112 of Fairbury.

Mrs. Nance was born Jan. 29, 1904, in Fairbury, the daughter of Miniard and Magdalene Kohler Flury. She married Thomas S. Nance Nov. 15, 1920, at Watseka. He died April 6, 1967.

Survivors include five sons, Thomas L., Mountain Home, Ark.; John W., Forrest; Donald D., San Diego, Calif.; Richard K., Chenoa; and James L., Joliet; eight daughters, Charlotte Hartman, Racine, Wis.; Shirley Dickenson, Onarga; Betty Faw, Fairbury; Barbara White, Mahomet; Linda Sparks, Grand Junction, Colo.; Judith Hildreth, Bloomington; Madge Bayston, New Braunfels, Texas; and Margie Hedrick, Fairbury; 43 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters, one son, three daughters and one grandson.

She was a former housekeeping supervisor at Fairbury Hospital, where she worked for 15 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Fairbury and the Charity Home Rebekah Lodge 112 of Fairbury. She was also a member of the Fairbury American Legion World War I Auxiliary.

Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fairbury or the Meadows Mennonite Home.
