She was born on February 16, 1935 to Thomas and Helen (Flury) Nance. Betty was the seventh of 17 children who grew up in the little green-shingled house at the west end of Locust Street.
She graduated from Fairbury Township High School in 1953, and was a cheerleader all four of her high school years. Betty married Donald Faw on March 10, 1956. He survives.
Also surviving are her children; Jeff and Jean Ann; grandchildren Amanda and Jon; four brothers, John W., Forrest; Donald D., San Diego, Calif.; Richard K., Chenoa; and James L., Joliet; six sisters, Charlotte Hartman, Racine, Wisc.; Shirley Dickenson, Champaign; Barbara White, Champaign; Linda Sparks, Coolidge, Ariz, Madge Bayston, New Braunfels, Tex.; and Margie Hedrick of Fairbury; and the light of her life, great-granddaughter Maggie.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Thomas "Leon", and Francis, and sisters Mary Griffin, Rosella Nance, Mardell Albee, and Judy Hildreth.
Because they spent so much time there, Betty and her brothers and sisters felt they "owned" Marsh Park as children, and she shared many stories about growing up in such a large family.
Betty spent many years working for Dave's Supermarket. She loved Amish cooking, traveling to out-of-the-way places, and sitting on her front porch visiting with family and neighbors.
At her request, no services will be held. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the Dominy Memorial Library, Fairbury. 11a
