He was born in Adams County, the son of the late William F. and Minnie Trostle Carbaugh.
He was a retired farmer and cattle dealer. He also worked at the Gettysburg Furniture Company for some time.
He served in the United States Army during World War I with the Fourth U.S. Infantry, Third Division. He was awarded six Bronze Stars and six Battle Stars. He served as vice commander of World War I Veterans and was one of the founders of the Gettysburg VFW Post 15.
He was a member of the Albert J. Lentz Post 202 of the American Legion, and the 40 and Eight Club.
He is survived by: his wife, the former Mary E. Stoops; two brothers, Charles Carbaugh of Gettysburg and Roy Carbaugh of Gettysburg R.3; a sister, Mary Herr of Fairfield R.2.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Monahan Funeral Home with the Rev. David Hunsberger officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
Memorials can be made to a favorite charity.
