Early Citizen of County Expires

Susan Adelia Etherington McFarland, 72, died early today at her home in West Weber. She was born April 2, 1864, in Slaterville, a daughter of Sarah Wheeler and Thomas Etherington, who were pioneer residents of Weber county. She was married on August 17, 1882, in the Endowment House in Salt Lake City, to Charles Blair McFarland who preceded her in death Oct 18, 1909. Mrs. McFarland was a member of the Latter-day Saints church and a life- long work in the Relief society.

Children surviving are Mrs. Ida M. Gibson, West Weber; Charles H. McFarland, Hansen, Idaho; Archibald J. McFarland, Wilson; Thomas L. McFarland; Lemhi, Idaho, W. Mitchell Mcfarland, West Weber; Roy McFarland, Ogden, Mrs. Susan A. Grant, Phoenix, Ariz.; Donald Blair McFarland, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Sarah Bell Pheal, Idaho Falls, Ida.; there are 31 grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and the following brothers and sisters: George W. Etherington Heyburn, Ida; James A. Etherington, Mrs. Mary E. McFarland, Mrs. P.F. McFarland, Mrs. Laura Blanche, Mrs. Harry Dance, all of West Weber; Mrs. Nathaniel Montgomery, North Ogden. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Larkin & Sons upon the arrival of out-of-state sons and daughters.

Funeral services for Mrs. Susan Adelia McFarland were held at the L.D.S. West Weber chapel Monday afternoon with Counselor David W. Hancock conducting.
The invocation was offered by James B. Hunter and benediction was pronounced by Oscar McFarland.
Musical selections were rendered by Leland Gibson, Elsie Wayment, Jay Gibson, West Weber Relief society chorus of Singing Mothers, and Lila Hislop.
Speakers were J. Glen Blanch, President Joseph Ririe, Heber B. Hawkes, Mrs. Lance Greenwell, and David Hancock.
Interment was in the West Weber cemetery where the grave was dedicated by Samuel Hadley, Sr. Pallbearers were grandsons and the flowers were in charge of granddaughters, nieces, and the ward Relief society.
