FUNERAL RITES FOR METHODIST LEADER FRIDAY
Funeral services for Mrs R B Spurgin, leader in Methodist Hospital work, who died Thursday at her home, 1525 Olympia Drive, will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Oak Cliff Methodist Church, Jefferson and Marsalis, Bishop John M Moore and Dr H C Henderson will officiate. Wife of Dr R B Spurgin, she had long been active in the Methodist Church, and as president of the Women's Auxiliary of Methodist Hospital and helped administer the affairs of that institution.
Mrs Spurgin was born in Lancaster Nov 29, 1879, the daughter of the late George W and Alice E Owens, for many years residents of Dallas.Survivors are her husband, two sons, Ben O Spurgin and George R Spurgin; a sister, Mrs Lawrence Diamond; two brothers, George W Owens and Everett S Owens, and a granddaughter.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
