One of our trips to Sturgeon, my mother and I made a tour of Moberly to known addresses of family members that she remembered. Lena's family home was one of them. She was telling me that Rob & Lena would cook in the basement to keep the house from getting to hot, and not get the wall paper dirty. They would bring the food upstairs to a formal dinning room. In the dinning room was a big beautiful hutch with lots of hand painted bowls, plates, etc. Some of the famous makers were, P. S. Prussia. Bavaria, Limoge, Haviland. Mom always said she things that was were she got her fetish for pretty dishes and hand painted plates. Well I was only about a year and half old. But somewhere that was passed down to me. I would have loved to be able to see that sight.
