Father James W. Ham, Jr. was member of the 33rd Alabama Volunteers and was killed at the Battle of Perryville-Perryville, Kentucky. Married about 1876 in Elba, Coffee County, Alabama(most records in Courthouse destroyed due to flooding and fires). Migrated to Texas with husband and children after 1891 and before 1900-5 eldest children born in Alabama-three youngest daughters born in Bowie, Montague, Texas, Nancy's mother Sarah Jane Ham came to Texas with the family.
Cause of Death Coronary Occlusion-died at home 400 East Wise Place-Bowie, Montague, Texas.

PIONEER LADY DIES MONDAY
Mrs. E.S. Cooper buried Tuesday after Residence of forty years in Bowie


Mrs. E.S. Cooper, age 71 years, died at her home at 202 East Wise Street Monday afternoon. Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday with Rev. A.B. Hughs of Vernon in charge assisted by Rev. Thos. J. Doss of this city. Interment was in the Lindale Cemetery.
She is survived by seven children, three boys: D.J. Cooper of Olney, W.B. Cooper of Baird, and A.D. Cooper of Bowie; four daughters, Mrs. L.J. Kilcrease of Olney, Mrs. John Prater of Wirt, Oklahoma, Mrs. Vincent Stine of Henrietta, and Miss Alda Cooper of this city, one sister, Mrs. John Jones of Elba, Alabama, 33 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Elba, Alabama, December 8, 1859, where she spent her childhood. She was married to E.S. Cooper in 1876. They came to Texas moving to the homestead in 1892 living there until her death. Mrs. Cooper
was one of the oldest pioneers of Bowie coming here before Bowie was a very large town. She and her husband had a great part in the building of Bowie and all old settlers of Montague county knew Mrs. Cooper as a great friend at all times. Her husband preceded her in death in 1922.
She was a faithful Christian, noble mother and a kind neighbor to all who knew her and to know her was to love her.
Out of town visitors present for the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Pollard, Mrs. Frances Wood and son, Orville, Mr. and Mrs. H.E. Prater, Mrs. Harlan Wood and daughter Mrs. Luther Robertson, all of Wirt, Oklahoma; Mr. and Mrs. O.Z. Kilcrease and son, Mr. and Mrs. Troy Kilcrease and son, Chester and Lester Cooper, Misses Clemmie, Morine and Corine Cooper all of Olney; Mr. and Mrs. O.T. Gorseline and C.J. Cooper of Wichita Falls; T.L. Tucker of Decatur, Charles Kimbal of Baird, Texas; Mesdames R.M. Gant, W.V. Tonsley, C.E. Elkins, Bert Davis, Jack Petro, and O.W. Garett, Misses Mary Ruth Elkins, Ruth Townsley, Mina Frank, Ida Hassel, and Lula and Pierce Stine, I.F. Donnell and Jim Boyd, all of Henrietta.
