Connie Self Welch

Connie Self Welch, 86, widow of William Dewitt Welch, died September 8 at her residence near Vaiden after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ed Self.

She leaves six daughters. Bessie Hancock of Vaiden, Mary Chiappino of Long Island, Mildred Branch of Winona, Martha Clark of Monroe, Florine Williams of Meridian, and Lorine Branch of Gulf Breeze, Florida, and six sons, Rufus Welch and Dewitt Welch of Greenville, Albert Welch, Watt Welch, Buddy Welch, and Dennis Welch, all of Vaiden.

She is also survived by two sisters, Maggie Downs of Swiftown and Mamie Doster of Jackson, and three brothers, Bob self, Joe Self, and Rusty Self, all of Vaiden. She also leaves 29 grandchildren, 18 great¬grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services were held at Oliver Chapel at 2 p.m. on September 10 with the Reverends John A. Wade and James S. Allen officiating. Burial was in Vaiden Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Don Welch, Dwight Welch, Ricky Welch, Mike Branch, Dennis J. Welch, and George Clerk.

Oliver Funeral Home of Winona was in charge of the arrangements.
