Retired Vaiden farmer and merchant Albert Welch, 68, died Monday, June 1, 1987, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson after a brief illness.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, June 3, at 10 a.m. from Oliver Chapel. The Rev. Leon Holly, assisted by the Rev. John A. Wade, preached services. Burial will be in Vaiden Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mamie Elizabeth Welch of Vaiden, three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Jo Johnson of Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Charlotte Garcia of Margan Hill, Calif., and Mrs. Linda King of Ackerman, a son, Don Welch of Greenwood, six sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hancock and Mrs. May Chiappino, both of Vaiden, Mrs. Mildred Branch of Winona, Mrs. Martha Clark of West Monroe, La., Florine Williams of Meridian and Lorine Branch of Pensacola, Fla., four brothers, Vernon Welch, Watt Welch and Dennis Welch, all of Vaiden, and Dewitt of Greenville, and 10 grandchildren.
He was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church and the American Legion, and was a veteran of World War II to the U.S. Army.
Pallbearers were Bill Carroll, Frank Stanton, James Alford, Billy Joe Ferguson, Emmitt Winters and Bernard Sanders. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Cook, J.B. Bailey, Joe Burrell, Bob Sanders, Tee Jefcoat and Billy Bufkin. Oliver Funeral Home handled arrangements.
