Funeral services for Mildred Welch Branch of Winona will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 5, at Scotland Baptist Church in Winona, with burial following in Scotland Cemetery. Rev. Paul Trosper will officiate the services.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, September 4, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home; and on Wednesday, September 5, from 9:00 a.m. until service time, at Scotland Baptist Church.
Mrs. Branch died at St. Dominic's Hospital in Jackson on Sunday, September 2, 2012. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Branch was the daughter of the late William and Connie Self Welch. She was a retired employee of the Bank of Winona and Winona Packing Company. Mrs. Welch was
devoted to her family and friends and loved gardening, flowers, cooking, and painting. She was a member of Scotland Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister and four brothers.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Benson "Sonny" Branch of Winona; two sons, Mike Branch and his wife, Marietta, of Greenwood and Bruce Branch and his wife,
Lisa, of Winona; four sisters, Mae Chiappino of Smithtown, NY, Lorrine Branch of Gulfbreeze, FL, Martha Clark of Winona, and Florine Williams of Gulfport; one brother,
Dennis Welch of Vaiden; four grandchildren, Eric Branch, Anna Branch Makamson, Tyler Branch, and Lacey Branch Phelps; and eight great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Lenis Pearson, Dewitt Branch Jr., Danny Havens, Don Welch, Alan Boone, and J. R. Graves. The deacon body of Scotland Baptist Church will serve as
honorary pallbearers.
