COOKEVILLE Funeral services for Alene Thomas, 80, of Cookeville, will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, at noon at Crest Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will be in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.

Family will receive friends today, Friday, Jan. 11, after 6 p.m. and Saturday, Jan.12, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Mrs. Thomas died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

She was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Putnam County to the late Joseph Washington and Lucy Angeline Heard Maxwell.

Mrs. Thomas was a self-employed cook in Cookeville for many years. She was a member of Sycamore Church of Christ.

Her family includes her husband, David Thomas of Cookeville; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lydia and Fred Long of Nashville and Yvonne and R.H. Ballard of Algood; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ted and Marie Thomas of Nashville and Tim and Pam Thomas of Coookeville; five granddaughters, Tina Faith, Tracy Crain, DeAnna Loftis and husband Sherman, Tonya Robinson and husband Wesley and Brandy Thomas and fiance Woody Minnear; seven grandsons, Kevin Long and wife DeDe, Lloyd Steele, Chad Thomas and wife DeeDee, Mark Thomas and wife Debbie, Eric Thomas and wife Carrie, Brandon Thomas and wife Kristie and Casey Thomas; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Long, Lloyd Steele and Chad, Mark, Eric, Brandon and Casey Thomas

Bros. Johnny Fox and Jason Hart will officiate the services.
