Mr. Maxwell died on Sunday, Sept. 20, 1998, at Veterans Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Ind.
He was born on April 18, 1925, in Silver Point to the late Joseph W. and Lucy Herd Maxwell. Mr. Maxwell was self employed and a member of the American Legion, VFW Lodges and a trustee at the VFW. He also served in the Army during World War II.
His family includes five sons and three daughters-in-law, Kenneth Maxwell of Lexington, Ky., Jim Maxwell of Andrews, Ind., Bruce and Debbie Maxwell of Denver, Ind., Joe and Sheila Maxwell and David and Cindy Maxwell, all of Peru; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Shirley and William Beatty of Dayton, Ohio, Evelyn and Tony Borg of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Linda and Steve Bartoo of Wabash, Ind., and Edie Binkerd of Peru; three sisters, Alene Thomas of Cookeville, Martha Jernigan of Baxter and Mary Wilkerson of Reading, Mich.; 35 grandchildren; 20 greatgrandchildren; and a special friend, Mae McIntosh.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Florence C. Wimer Maxwell; a daughter, Brenda Persinger; three brothers and four sisters.
