Charles R. Young was the son of William and Sarah (Renear) Young. He was born in Bucks Co., PA in 1824. He and three of his siblings are listed on the Poor School Children list; Charles from 1831 to 1832 in Bristol twp., PA. He had siblings all born in PA; Samuel 1819, John C. 1820, Lydia Ann 1823, Charles 1825, William H. and Thomas J. 1831. Charles. John C., Charles, William, Thomas and Elizabeth b. 1826 and their mother Sarah moved to Gloucester Co., NJ possibly around 1840. According to the 1850 census their father was deceased. Charles and his brothers became glassblowers. Charles learned to blow glass over at Winslow. Charles married Elizabeth Long on 5 August 1847 in Gloucester Co. According to the family Bible their children were; Socrates Townsend 18 NOV 1848, Samuel Long Young 17 JAN 1851, Eliza Silver (Young) Carney 19 JAN 1853, Daniel L. Young 26 NOV 1860, Edwin W. Young 11 SEP 1863, Letita L. (Young) Bartlett-Gaskill 29 MAY 1855, Charles Anna (Young) Moncrief 29 OCT 1857.
