Miss Margaret Arens, 87, lifelong Remsen resident, died Monday, Feb. 28 at Floyd Valley Hospital, LeMars, after a brief illness.
Funeral services for Miss Arens were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3 at St. Mary's Catholic Church here. Rev. Richard Birdsall officiated and burial was in the parish cemetery.
Margaret was born June 14, 1889 at Remsen, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. [Margaret Homan] Peter Arens.
She had worked as a clerk in the D. J. Frank general store for many years and was also a private seamstress.
She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Third Order of St. Francis.
Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Nick (Cecilia) Gengler of Brookings, S. D. and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters. (Margaret also had 6 siblings who died as infants or before age 21)
The Fisch funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
