Jim Arens of Remsen Dies, Rites Saturday

Funeral services for Jim P. Arens, 73, of Remsen, who died Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Sacred Heart hospital after a four weeks illness were held Saturday mornning at 9:30 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Remsen. The Rev. Geo. Theobald conducted the services. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

James P. Arens was born March 23, 1879 in Plymouth county and had lived and farmed in the Remsen community all his life. He was married in Remsen Nov. 17, 1908 to Mollie Kennedy. He was a member of the K. of C. Catholic Order of Forresters and Luxembourg Brotherhood of America.

Surviving besides his wife are three sons and seven daughters:
Mrs. Lawrence (Valoria) Alesch, Marcus; Oswald, Remsen; Mrs. Stanley (Phyllis) Englert, Calvary City, Calif.; Mrs. Ed (Helen) Jaminet, Kenneth Arens, Mrs. Gene (Mary) Loutsch, Mrs. Louis (Doris) Wurth, Mrs. Leander (Jane) Konz and James, jr. all of Alton.

There are also 43 grandchildren, three sisters and a brother. Fisch funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
