Florence B. Matteson, age 90, of 214 South Main Street, Mount Morris died Sunday September 10, 2000 at Raleigh Community Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. She was born the daughter of Anthony and Josephine (Battaglia) Barone on September 22, 1909 in Mount Morris, NY. Prior to her retirement in 1970 she was employed as a Registered Nurse at the TB Hospital in Mount Morris for 29 years. She was a member of St. Patrick"s Church, the Rosary Society and the Woman"s Democratic Club. She is survived by her daughter Barbara (Gerald Sr.) Leone of Raleigh, NC, 3 Grandchildren Gerald Leone Jr. of Victor, Thomas Leone and Christopher Leone both of Florida, 1 Great Granddaughter Marchella Elizabeth Leone of Victor, 2 Sisters Jenny Provino of Mt. Morris, Mary (Ross) Leta of Rochester, 1 Brother Joseph (Mazie) Barone of Mt. Morris, 1 Sister-in-law Eleanor Barone of Mt. Morris. Many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Wednesday 2-4, and 7-9 at the John W. Martin Funeral Home 37 Chapel Street (Route 408), Mount Morris where prayers will be said Thursday at 9 am followed by a funeral mass at 9:30 am at St. Patrick"s Church. Interment St. Patricks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers masses may be offered for the repose of her soul.
