Anthony S. Barone, 76, highly respected and long time resident of Mount Morris, passed away unexpected Tuesday afternoon at Warsaw Hospital. He died about an hour after entering the hospital. For the past several years he had been in poor health. Mr. Barone and his wife had celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on Jan. 27, 1955. After coming to Mt. Morris in 1893, he first worked for the Lackawanna Railroad before working at Sonyea doing masonry work, the trade which carved his life's work. In 1922 Mr. Barone purchase tract of land known as the McNair farm which is now Barone and Breen Avenues. He built his home on the corner of Main Street and Barone Avenue before building several other homes on his property, which today makes up one of the nicest residential sections in the village. Always active in village affairs, Mr. Barone was a faithful member of St. Patrick's Church and was active in its various societies. He was a member of the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus, the Seymour Chemical Company and the OAC. Surviving are six sons, Paul, Peter, Joseph and Anthony, Jr., of Mt. Morris; Carl of Rochester and Salvatore of Syracuse; three daughters, Mrs. Florence Matteson and Mrs. Jennie Provino of Mt. Morris and Mrs. Mary Leta of Rochester; one brother, Joseph of Los Angeles, Calif., and a sister Mrs. Carrie Dalberth of Rochester; also 17 grandchildren. Friends may call at the J. W. Martin & Son Funeral Home in Chapel Street. Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Patrick's Church. The Rev. Robert Fennessy will officiate and burial will be in St. Patrick' Cemetery.
