He was born Aug. 29, 1919 in Pine Township to Incel C and Martha Jane (Sanford) Anderson.
Mr Anderson was a coal miner for 28 years; he was retired since 1978 from Carpentertown Coal & Coke Company.
He was a member of the Templeton Church of God
He was a US Army veteran having served in World War II, where he served with the 324th Infantry Anti-Tank Company, as a gunner in North France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal and the European-Africian-Middle Eastern Medal with four Bronze Stars.
He was a member of the United Mine Workers District 2.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening as his hobbies.
Survivors include his wife Gertrude A (Cooper) Anderson, whom he married on Feb. 23, 1946; two sons, Robert Anderson of Templeton and Daniel Anderson of Punxsutawney; two daughters, Mrs. Gary (Linda) Coon of Home and Mrs. Mickey (Nancy) McAfoose of Jasper, IN; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Anderson of Kittanning, James Anderson and Edward Anderson, both of Templeton; five sisters, Grace Lockhart of Templeton, Janetta Atherton of Mosgrove, Hazel Reedy of Kittanning, Elsie Slagle of Templeton, and Flossie McKain of Kittanning; and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son, Kenneth Eugene Anderson; two brothers; and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at the Kennedy Blodgett Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 2, 1995 at 11 a.m. with his pastor, the Rev Ronald Follett officiating. Interment will take place in Pine Creek Baptist Church Cemetery
