US ARMY - WORLD WAR II

Leroy E. Anderson, 52, Templeton, was killed about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, September 19, 1978 while at work at Carpentertown Coal and Coke Co. Mines, Pine Township. Born in Templeton on October 16, 1925, he was the son of the late Incel Anderson and Martha (Sanford) Anderson, who survives. He had lived his entire life in the Templeton community. He was a member of the Church of God of Templeton and was a veteran of World War II having served in the US Army. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Slagle) Anderson; six daughters, Mrs. William (Kathy) Tatsak, Jr. and Mrs. Charles (Shirley) Long both of Templeton; Dawn and Jill, both at home; Mrs. Christopher (Peggy) Wrighter, Kittanning RD2, and Mrs. Kenneth (Cherry) Fyock, Ferndale, MD; five sisters, Mrs. Fred (Grace) Lockhart, Mrs. Jerry (Elsie) Slagle and Mrs. Ralph (Janetta) Atherton, all of Templeton RD1, Mrs. Hazel Reedy, Kittanning and Mrs. Dale (Flossie) McKain, Kittanning RD2; four brothers, Charles C., Kittanning RD2, and Kenneth R., James C., and Edward L. all of Templeton RD1; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Tommy Lee and Sgt. William L. Anderson, and one brother, Eugene. Friends will be received at the Bauer Funeral Home, Kittanning from 7-9 p.m. today and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m Thursday. Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the Templeton Church of God by his pastor Rev. C. Richard Main. Burial will follow in Cochran Cemetery.
