US NAVY - WORLD WAR II

James C. Anderson, 78, of Templeton RD1 died Monday, Aug. 19, 2002 in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital, East Franklin Township. He was born July 9, 1924 in Templeton RD1 to Incel and Martha Jane (Sanford) Anderson. Mr. Anderson was employed by the Carpenter Coke & Coal Company, retiring in 1987. A World War II veteran, he served on the USS Wyoming from 1943-46. He was a member of the Kittanning Church of God. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Survivors include three sons, Stanley Anderson of Ford City, Al Anderson of Templeton and Mark Anderson of Indiana; two daughters, Mrs. James (Bar-bara) Wingard of Springville, N.Y. and Mrs. Charles (Betty) Reedy of Templeton; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Anderson of Templeton; and four sisters, Janetta Atherton and Elsie Slagle, both of Templeton and Flossie McCain and Hazel Reedy, both of Kittanning. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Anna Mae (Cravener) Anderson, who died Oct. 28, 1984; four brothers, Charles, Gene, Kenny and LeRoy; and four sisters, Grace, Margaret Marie, Mary Ellis and Dorothy Jane. ANDERSON - Friends of James C. Anderson, 78, of Templeton RD1, who died Aug. 19, 2002, will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Snyder-Crissman Funeral Home, Inc., 200 S. McKean St., Kittanning, where funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday with the Rev. Richard Molgaard officiating. Burial will be in Cochran Cemetery. Arrangements by Snyder-Crissman.
