ALPHONSE JOSEPH BECKER
March 19, 1910 - Oct. 21, 2008
Alphonse Becker was born in St. Helena, Neb., to John and Elizabeth (Klug) Becker. He grew up and went to school in Nebraska, and helped his family farm.
In June [22] 1938 he married Mabel Sudbeck. In 1955, Alphonse moved his family out west to Albany, where he went to work for Wald Construction and later for Dick Draper, building houses.
Mabel passed away in 1993. Alphonse married Marie Crakes in September [17] 1993. Marie passed away in April 2000.
As he aged gracefully, Alphonse was able to stay on the farm with help from family and caregiver Annette Liess.
Alphonse was the last remaining sibling from John and Elizabeth's family of 11 children. Art, Elsie, Fred, Ray, Arnold, Sep, Lucina, Laura, Edgar and Gilbert preceded him in death.
Surviving are sons James and wife Karen, Duane and wife Bobbie, Charles and wife Cindy, Allen, and Roger and wife Sue, all of Albany; five grandchildren, Brian Becker of Albany, Doug Becker of Fountain Hills, Ariz., Dawn Nielsen of Albany, Jermey Becker of Corvallis and Josh Becker of Albany; two stepgrandchildren, Rocky Walkup of Albany and Toni Stires of Lebanon; two great-grandchildren, Amber Nielsen and Makenna Becker; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Ashley Dillard and Nick Newell.
A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Willamette Memorial Park.
