Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Black Family Funeral Service, Byesville, for Mary A. Province, 83, a resident of The Beckett House in New Concord, formerly of Cambridge, who died Tuesday (April 2, 1002) at Southeastern Med in Cambridge.
The Rev. Al Dudley will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
She was born June 14, 1918, in Parkersburg, W.Va., daughter of the late Jasper Milstead and Leota (Hornbeck) Milstead Nutter.
Mrs. Province was a homemaker and attended Ava Methodist Church.
She was a volunteer for The Salvation Army, where she was a member of the Home League.
She served as a mid-wife in the Parkersburg and Bellaire area.
She was a gospel singer having performer with the Province Family from 1950 to 1968.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Province, who died June 14, 1990. They were married April 21, 1936. Also deceased is a daughter, Mary Frances Murphy; a son, Louie Province; four brothers; three sisters, and two great-grandchildren.
She leaves two sons, Harold Province Jr. of Byesville, and Stephen James (Martha) Province of Cambridge; four daughters, Mrs. Tom (Laura) Gadd of Cambridge, Mrs. Bud (Diana) Dudley of Pleasant City, Mrs. Don (Charlene) Myers of Parkersburg, W.Va., and Mrs. Albert (Susan) Thress of Byesville; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth McConkey of Byesville and Mrs. Jim (Florence) Dobbins of Nevada; a daughter-in-law, Marge Province; 25 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; a foster granddaughter; a special friend, Vernon Dudley; and special care giver, Karen Millward of The Beckett House.
