Mrs. Nannie Noble Fields, 87, of 401 Loudoun Ave, died Saturday in Waynesboro Community Hospital. She was born in Nelson County, Aug. 25, 1898, a daughter of Patrick and Martha Dodd.

Mrs. Fields was a longtime resident of Beech Grove Christian Church, where she taught Sunday school for many years.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James D. (Agnes) Lowe of Grafton, W. Va., and Mrs. Louis G. (Temple) Ferrier of Waynesboro; two sons, Robert S. Fields and Paul M. Fields, both of Afton; 26 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest William Fields, on Aug. 5, 1983; one son, Samuel W. Fields; and one daughter, Mrs. Lonzo (Edith) Payne.

A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Beech Grove Christian Church by the Rev. James D. Lowe, the Rev. Phillip Forehand and the Rev. J. D. Ferries. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be Basil Campbell, Bill Ferrier, Layman Dodd, Arthur Lowe, Worthy Thompson, Martin Dodd, Luther McGann, Maphis Campbell, McAuldman Campbell and Carrol Campbell.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening in McDow Funeral Home and at other times in the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Temple Ferrier, 401 Loudoun Ave. Memorial contributions may be made to Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
