Paul M. Fields, of Afton, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at his residence.
Paul was born July 2, 1927 in Roseland and was a son of the late Ernest and Noble Dodd Fields. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Samuel Fields and Robert Fields; and two sisters, Agnes Lowe and Edith Payne.
Survivors include his wife, Earleen Hite Fields; two sons, Michael of Roanoke and Jeffrey and wife, Wanda of Fredericksburg; three daughters, Jo Anne of Denver, CO, Kim of Tampa, FL, Allison Toman of Afton; four grandchildren, Michael, Heather, Keri and Jacob; and five great grandchildren.
Paul served in World War II and retired from Wayne-Tex in Waynesboro. He was a lifelong member of Beech Grove Christian Church serving in different capacities, helping with music and enjoying singing in the choir.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Beech Grove Christian Church Cemetery with Pastor Michael Auen officiating. Active pallbearers will be H.D. Kidd, Jr., Steve Lowe, James Ethan Lowe, Ricky Fields, Robert Fields and Louis Ferrier, Jr. All in attendance are invited for a reception at the church immediately following the service.
The family will receive friends Monday, January 13, 2014 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Beech Grove Christian Church, 1207 Beech Grove Road, Roseland, VA 22967.
