Mable Ruth Altum DeLord, 85, of Gatesville, died Tuesday, Aug. 8, at a Temple hospital.
Funeral services were scheduled for 11 a.m. today (Saturday) at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Royse Cockrell and Bro. Dan Cockrell officiating. Burial is scheduled to follow at Restland Cemetery.
Mrs. DeLord was born April 30, 1915, in the Brookhaven Community of Coryell County. She was the daughter of the late Samuel Newton and Mattie Lee Gallagher Altum and one of 11 children. She was reared and attended school in the Brookhaven Community.
She married William Russell DeLord on Dec. 17, 1933. After their marriage, they resided in the Brookhaven Community, now located in the Ft. Hood reservation. They then moved to Flat, residing there until moving to Gatesville in 1951. Her husband preceded her in death in November 1997. She was a member of Gateway Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, William Robert DeLord; a daughter, Joanie Hudspeth Fouche and husband Fred of Copperas Cove; a sister, Opal Lee Diserens and husband Walter of Gatesville; seven grandchildren, Monty Hudspeth and wife Terrie, Matt Hudspeth and wife Jenny, Tina Yows and husband Randy, Mitchell DeLord and wife Jody, Michael DeLord, Dar and Nikki Fouche; and 13 great-grandchildren, Eric, Courtney, Chase, Steven, Brittany, Matthew, Lisa Grace, Marcus, Zackery, Zane, Carrie, Zachary, and Lauren Grace; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Ingram Altum, Zela Altum and Alma Lee Altum; and one brother-in-law, W.P. "Dub" Paul Sr. and wife Aletha.
The family suggests memorials to the Gateway Baptist Church.
