Gertie was born in Germany, the 2nd of seven children of Johann Anton and Christina Paschen Von Ruden. She married Wiktor J, Bonas on 11-22-1875 in Rochester, MN at St. John's Catholic Church. They had seven children, six boys and 1 girl. They moved their family to Saskatchewan in 1903. Years later they moved to California where they both passed. Gertrude died as a widow of two years and she was survived by 7 children. She spoke mainly German for most of her life.
