Prominent Pioneer Passes Away
Mrs. Mary Dostert, one of the pioneer residents of Ward county passed to the Great Beyond Saturday morning at a Minot hospital following an operation for gall stones. Although Mrs. Dostert has not been in the best of health for some time past, she still appeared in fairly robust health and her death came as a great shock to the entire community.

Mary von Ruden was born in Germany 57 years ago. She came to America at an early age and located at Grand Forks where she was married to Mr. Dostert in 1884. Three years later they settled on a homestead six miles east of Berthold which has since been her home.

Mr. Dostert died May 8, 1916. Eleven children were born to this union, ten of whom survive their mother. They are Mrs. Wm. Kohn of Berthold, Mrs. Wm. McClellan of Bemidji, Minn., Mrs. Milton Scholas of Berthold, Victor of Nashua, Mont., Anthony of Foxholm, John, William, Frank, Leo, and Eddie of Berthold, all of whom attended the funeral which was held Monday from the Catholic church in Foxholm.

Mrs. Dostert was an active worker in the church and contributed liberally of her time and money in upbuilding the church. She was a kind hearted and accommodating friend and neighbor and by her generous nature made warm friends of all with whom she came in contact.
