Obit: Funeral services for Mrs. Frederick Althaus, 75, rural Pierson, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Salem Lutheran Church of rural Correctionville with Rev. Arnold E. Sommer officiating. Burial will be in Rock Branch Cemetery under direction of Dickison-Michaelson Funeral Home of Pierson. Mrs. Althaus died Monday in a Cherokee hospital after a long illness. The former Amelia Rock, she was born May 5, 1894, near Rock Branch in Woodbury County, the daughter of Fritz Karl Rock & Christina Neumeier. She was married to Mr. Althaus February 27, 1918. The couple farmed near Pierson until they retired and moved to Pierson. He died in 1959. Mrs. Althaus was a member of Salem Lutheran Church. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Fred J. (Lorna) Buss of Sioux City, three sons, Herbert of Kingsley, Bruce of Lovell, Wyoming, and William of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, a sister, Mrs. Glen (Hilda) Law of Pierson, eighteen grandchildren and a great grandchild.
