Obit: Funeral services were held Saturday, December 9, 1950, at Salem Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. with Rev. A.E. Guetzlaff officiating. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery at Rock Branch under direction of Osborn Funeral Home. Fritz K. Rock, son of Louis Rock and his wife Louise Brune, was born in Allens Grove township, Scott Co., Iowa, October 15, 1867. He was baptized at Davenport October 19, 1870. As a young man of nineteen years he came to Woodbury County where he worked as a hired man until 1890 when he started farming for himself. He was married to Christina Neumeier April 27, 1893, at Salem Lutheran Church. To this union were born two daughters, Millie Althaus and Hilda Law, both of Pierson, and one son, Herbert Rock, who died at age sixteen on April 21, 1913. In 1916 the family moved to Pierson where the wife passed away April 5, 1923. From then on he made his home with his daughter, Mrs. William Althaus, and later with Mrs. Glen Law. He suffered a heart attack the morning of December 5, 1950, and was immediately taken to the Lutheran Hospital in Sioux City where he passed away shortly after noon on Wednesday, December 6, 1950, at the age of 83 years, 1 month, 21 days. He became a communicant member of the Salem congregation during the pastorate of Rev. A.F. Karsten. Survivors include his daughters, Mrs. William Althaus and Mrs. Glen Law, eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, two brothers, William Rock of Helena, Missouri, and Carl Rock of Davenport, two sisters, Mrs. Hieka Dirks and Mrs. Sophia Tams, both of Davenport, many distant relatives and a host of friends.
