Married Grace Geniel Nielson July 26, 1930, in Manti. Marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they had seven children.
Welby was an Insurance salesman. He held many church positions; was a temple worker; and a chairman of Boys Scouts for 14 years.
Survivors include his Wife, Lehi; four sons, two daughters, Martin LaRay, Orem; Robert Leon, West Point; Lyle Rodger, and Mrs. Merlin (Vickie) Hatton, both Lehi; Jackie Leo, Provo; Mrs. J.R. (Shirley) Price, American Fork; 54 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Wallace Clements, and Mrs. Edna Myrberg, both Salt Lake City; H.G. (Glen) and Malan Clements, both American Fork; Mrs. Gordon (Marie) Deakin, serving an LDS Mission with husband in Nauvoo, Illinois; Mrs. Verl (Elaine Jones) Reed, Riverton. Preceded in death by a son.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, at 11 a.m., in the Lehi 7th Ward. Friends called at Wing Mortuary, Sunday, 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
